This was my first attempt to study the New Testament, as well as my first time reading through the New Testament in its entirety. Seven articles introduce and explain the major covenants of salvation history, showing God’s amazing plan for humanity. Also, don't waste your money on "Audio Study Notes", they're just little clips of sermons, often repeated, and only linked to a few New Testament verses. The Pages however are so thin, that by putting a bookmark in-between the pages, i damaged the page itself, this is catastrophic, thicker pages would be very welcome for the next revisions. With copious historical and theological notes, incisive commentary and tools for study, the Ignatius Catholic Study Bible New Testament is outstanding for private devotion, personal study and Bible study groups.

The Old Testament notes reflect modern critical scholarship (JEPD, late dates, pseudonymous writings, etc. It gives you a great insight to the authors of the books of the New Testament - telling you when they wrote, for what audience, how they had acquired their information, and much more.It provides only modest margins, but otherwise the page layout is possibly the best I’ve seen in an NAB Bible for readability – especially the cross-references. Only negative is that this just covers the NT, Ignatius Press is working on the OT (with a few individual OT books released such as Daniel). The Douay-Rheims Bible, also known as the St Jerome Bible, is a direct translation of the Latin Vulgate Bible into English. That said, there exists a spectrum of Catholic study bibles created by the scriptural translations and study tools.
