As saving videos is intuitive and easy, and what you want to keep takes seconds and can be saved straight to your smartphone – you should never be in a situation where you’ve recorded something you need as evidence. Seven sets of the high-transmittance lens mean that daylight is filtered, and with an aperture of f/1. Standout features also include 5GHz Wi-Fi for the quick transfer of video files from dash cam to smartphone – a must, considering the size of 4K recordings and how there’s no removable microSD card to move files to a computer.

The Miofive 4K dash cam is high-spec car camera that's armed with a range of premium features, including a powerful Sony sensor, 64GB of internal storage and 5Ghz Wi-Fi for speedy transfers to your phone. Cable has a micro usb connector rather than USB-C so may become an issue if you move the camera between cars as micro usb can easily be damaged. I'm suspending my MIOFIVE Dash Cam Dual review until MIOFIVE issues a firmware update for that issue. As well as having an extra camera in the new package, you'll also find the internal storage has been doubled from the original single-camera system’s 64Gb capacity to the Dual’s 128Gb. If not, Miofive says it will replace the camera, though there’s no mention of whether that will happen outside the 18-month warranty. There is a bit of fisheye from the 140 FOV lens, but it’s handled well at normal eye height, and you can still catch details in the periphery. Other than this, which is an issue which can be said for most dashcams, it’s a competent dashcam which will keep you protected on the road. So I was thrilled to get an opportunity to test the latest version - which now adds a second, rear camera into the mix.

This directory appears to contain the video files that were recording in "Normal" mode but an impact event took place. It’s a better way of fixing – and much easier to remove – than simply sticking a mount to the windscreen, and it also came in handy while I perfected the dash cam’s aim.The timestamp that appears in the status line of the video will be converted to the local time based on the local time zone as determined by the dash camera based on its current location. The GPS technology built into the Miofive examines the driving environment through its DSP (Digital Signal Process) and monitors as well as displays real-time trip data including time, speed (km/h, mph), and GPS coordinates.

This wouldn’t necessarily be a problem if the Miofive 4K UHD dash cam had removable storage, but, like the Road Angel Halo Ultra, it’s stuck with just 64GB of onboard space. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. I've been using a dashcam from Chinese-owned brand Miofive for around a year now, in my wife's BMW, and I'm still impressed.

That's probably because you’re in something rear-wheel drive, the surface is slightly damp, and if you drop it to second and turn into that corner, it’ll be the most amount of fun - ever. Built-in GPS Monitors and displays real-time trip data, including time, speed (km/h, mph), and coordinates. I didn't notice it until very recently when I needed to change some settings that phone app didn't allow to change. Miofive’s 4K dash cam is an impressive package, combining a slender form factor with a beefy specification and top-notch video recording. Currently, there is no estimated date when an updated firmware to resolve the issue will be available.
