Chemical decontamination and use of a clay bar will ensure the surface is clean and ready to be polished. This is because the compound starts to dry out when left too long on car paint; when it starts to dry, it is much harder to work with and also harder to remove, so it is in your best interests to work the surface while the compound is still moist and dense. The Meguiars Ultimate finishing Polish also needs to be rubbed onto your car’s painted surfaces with a fair amount of pressure, but not as much as is required when applying Ultimate Compound. Winter isn’t exactly an inspiring time for us petrolheads, but that doesn’t mean the industry just shuts down for it. Ultimate compound is not a highly aggressive polish but is sufficient to bring neglected paint work back to a shine.

Rub the surface using circular motions, moving up and down or side to side to ensure every square inch is worked on.
