About this deal

We can offer you wheelbarrow wheels and trolley wheels with or without bearings, with plastic wheel centres or metal, and even a range of puncture proof wheels to suit your requirements. Our Gate Castors help to support the weight of wide gates and are easily installed with just 2 bolts. Both types come with 100.00mm Diameter wheels with 40.00mm Tread Width and have a total height of 375.00mm. The Bearings allow for 75KG Load. The spring on the Gate Castor allows for up to approximately 75.00mm of travel. Spring compression begins from 20KG. We also provide a wide range of residential and commercial gate hardware and automation products such as rollers and gate openers. Not Sure What You Need? A gate that requires a castor is typically heavy weight and needs to alleviate pressure on the hinges. A castor affixed to the bottom of the gate needs to be resistant to the hard wearing use over the course of years. The mount must be heavy duty steel to ensure it’s not susceptible to warping over time. It also needs to be securely fixed to the gate with high grade bolts. It’s also worth noting that a gate spring is typically more suited to smaller metal or wooden gates. If you need something for a larger gate, look to our gate furniture range to see what alternatives our collection has in store. What are spring-loaded gate wheels?

Health & Safety - All our castors are designed for low speed applications, and power towing castors are available upon special request. It is important to select the right castor for the job, to protect against manual handling injuries. Wheel Load Capacity – all of our wheels have been tested and are able to carry the specified load capacities. Look for thesymbol. Weight bearing abilities can be affected by floor surfaces and amount of use overtime. Overloading wheels will cause them to fail! The spring has a maximum compression of 3″/75mm and will provide up to 70kg of force*. When fitting the gate castor we recommend careful consideration of the location the castor is fitted in before any attempt is made to fit it.Step four: These next stages will include how to tension a gate spring. Firstly, you will need to put a rivet/peg in the bottom hole of the gate spring to keep it in place. As a result, you can combine your spring-loaded gate wheel(s) with a gate spring and have a gate that opens with improved efficiency in the long run. Top tip! Dividing your total load by 3 allows for a margin of safety, and this will give you the maximum each castor can carry in a safe working environment, allowing for uneven floor surfaces. 7 . Other Considerations that may affect your choice? Spring-loaded gate wheels are an extra step when it comes to the opening and closing of a gate. Also known as caster wheels or gate casters, this is a type of hardware that comes with a spring and a wheel. They are particularly popular when being used to support heavy timber gates as they operate. Better yet, they make opening and closing the gate even easier when it comes to uneven flooring. With the added wheel, you needn’t worry about the gate scraping across the ground as it is raised to allow for impact reduction to the gate or floor as it opens and closes.

High Temperature Wheels – we offer a range of hard tread phenolic resin temperature resistant wheels along with a soft tread high temperature rubber wheels. A gate spring can be installed on a wooden or metal gate. Here is your guide to installing a gate spring on each type of gate. How to fit a gate spring on a wooden gate

Roller Bearings – A bearing collar containing needle roller bearings, often the most common and well used bearings. Most suitable for medium duty applications, making the wheel easier to move. Swivel Radius - The distance from the centre of the castor head fitting to the outside of the wheel. This measurement enables you to ensure you have enough clearance for the complete castor to rotate, without being fouled. It is important to take this into consideration when deciding where to attach the castor. Please note braked castors have slightly larger swivel radiuses, as a result of the foot brake mechanisms. The Footmaster levelling castor is a multi-functional swivel castor that provides mobility, levelling and anti-vibration functions. This allows users to move and position large equipment into place with added stability using the levelling and anti-vibration features. The only difference when fitting a gate spring to a metal get is the screws you use to do so. So make sure you have suitable screws that can penetrate the metal surface as failing to do so can risk damage to your gate or even injury.

Another benefit of gate springs is that they can help the gate close more smoothly. This in turn can help reduce the risk of injury to passersby. So if you need a gate for domestic or commercial use, including a garden gate or a school entrance gate, a gate spring can be an ideal choice.Step two: Use the drill to remove one of the existing screws from the hinge on the gate. Then place the top part of the gate spring against the hinge and fix that part in place with the screw you removed. At this same stage, you will need to pre-drill a hole for a second screw at the top of the gate spring, using a new screw to keep it in place. Quality matters when putting wheels on your gate Step six: Once the right tension has been found, you can leave the rivet/peg in to keep the tension as needed. This can stop the point at the top of the system from turning. Failing to do so can result in a loss of tension. Footmaster Levelling Castor with M12 x 18m ...
