About this deal

We may sell, license, transfer, assign or in any other way dispose of the Service (including Members) to any third party without any notification to you, e. It’s balanced, rich in flavor, about as easy to sip as bourbon gets while retaining a very strong presence on the palate. It’s a full-throated flavor afterparty going on with peppery pops of spice, black licorice, leather, tobacco leaf and a bit of toffee. The sweetness on the nose starts off as molasses but morphs into maple syrup the longer you drink it.

Sure, Wild Turkey has long held its devoted fans and supporters, but a bulk of the bourbon-crazed population has only recently opened their minds (and wallets) to Lawrenceburg’s Finest. Shattered glass really sucks, so if you’re on the move, this Glencairn-like stainless steel snifter glass should survive your travels. The bottles have had a little redesign recently, and look very stylish indeed - though the eponymous turkey on the label looks rather surprised to be there. Sweet clementines and a hint of tobacco provide an extra layer of depth, adding a bit of intrigue to an otherwise traditional flavor profile.Whiskey is also for sharing, so I use Vivaplex, 12, Amber, 2 oz Glass Bottles, with Lids for smaller samples and Vivaplex, 12, Amber, 4 oz Glass Bottles, with Lids for larger ones. Chill filtration is a bit controversial because some people swear that it takes away from the end whiskey.

A blend of our finest selection of 6-, 8-, and 12-year bourbon, no water is added before bottling, for a curated sipping experience like drinking straight from the cask. It’s a fantastic daily drinker with all of the rich flavor complexity you’d expect in world-class bourbon and I simply love it. It’s nothing crazy like EH Taylor Barrel Proof or George T Stagg, but it seems to be noticeably more oily than average, which is a little oily to not at all.As far as I’m concerned, those expressions, as well as Rare Breed, have only maintained quality or improved. But, and you knew there was going to be a but, I’m going to step back for a moment and say that I still think the 95/5 rye that MGP puts out is better than this. Wild Turkey Rare Breed Bourbon (I have to include bourbon now because there is a rye), is Wild Turkey’s year-round cask strength bourbon release. There’s also this slightly green grape note to it, maybe from the rye, that adds to the welcome contrasting fruitiness that gives me a gentle apple brandy vibe.

To offer a barrel-proof whiskey that’s been filtered – not so much conventionally (I understand most consumers don’t care to sip char bits), but via an extraneous process that removes a degree of fatty acids, proteins, and esters (flavor elements) – that’s not exactly “straight from the barrel. Warm and inviting it’s much heavier on flavor than alcohol burn which makes it a fantastic sipping bourbon. And if you happen to have had it before, Wild Turkey Rare Breed smells like a bigger and more mature Wilderness Trail Single Barrel bourbon. Big rolling waves of caramel, cinnamon, vanilla, citrus, butterscotch, rye and honey all tumble around the palate and kick up notes of dark fruit, oak, clove and mint in their wake.
