Description

With Arts Council England support the Library acquired this significant historical item from a bookseller in the USA, taking it one step closer to obtaining the entire Gray’s collection of anatomical literature.

It is however, sometimes injured by a stab or gunshot wound in the neck, or even occasionally by a stab from within the mouth, as when a person receives a thrust from the end of a parasol or falls down with a tobacco-pipe in his mouth. It was published just prior to the American Civil War and was available during that conflict, being of timely importance to have an impact on medical military field care of the grievously wounded brave soldiers in both armies, needing the best available care after battles. Successive British editions of Gray's Anatomy continued to be published under the Longman, and more recently Churchill Livingstone/ Elsevier imprints, reflecting further changes in ownership of the publishing companies over the years. At the RCS this is supported by holdings of other works authored by Henry Gray and a few sample editions of the US version of the Anatomy and of ancillary, more recent publications such as Gray’s Anatomy for Students. P>This 42nd edition has been meticulously revised and updated throughout, reflecting the very latest understanding of clinical anatomy from the world’s leading clinicians and biomedical scientists.

e. there were separate sections for the body's entire skeletal system, entire circulatory system and entire nervous system, etc. Abrahams, MBBS, FRCS(ED), FRCR, DO(Hon), FHEA, Professor of Clinical Anatomy, Warwick Medical School, UK Professor of Clinical Anatomy, St Georges University, Grenada, W.

And it is most definitely of the sort that I will have to read again and again to even get a drop of the knowledge in this textbook.

The more popular 41st edition of Gray's Anatomy was published on 25 September 2015 by Elsevier in both print and online versions, and is the first edition to have enhanced online content including anatomical videos and a bonus Gray's imaging library.

A few weeks ago, I revisited Gray's Anatomy, which for years I kept by my bedside to read whenever I had trouble getting to sleep. It's a bit funny rating a reference work in anatomy, but if there ever was a five-star anatomy book it is of course the classic Gray's. However, Gray died the following year, at the age of 34, having contracted smallpox [5] while treating his nephew (who survived). And detail is important, because with it you'll find yourself drawn in wonder at how your body works. My review is of the Barnes and Noble leatherbound edition which is, I believe, a facsimile of the tenth edition, therefore not the current edition used in the medical field.Gray\'s Anatomy, published in the UK in 1858 under the original title Anatomy: Descriptive and Surgical, is a detailed English textbook on human anatomy, focused on teaching medical students human anatomy for practical knowledge during surgery. Written to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Gray’s anatomy, Richardson immerses the reader into the Dickensian back streets of mid-Victorian London to reveal the chance encounter of two very different men of medicine whose unlikely collaboration launched a masterpiece.

Now in its fortieth edition (originally published in 1858) it has been the keystone to learning human anatomy by medical students and doctors. The best resource, updated with a fresh, modern feel and the latest information - it's a true masterwork.Nevertheless, the 38th edition contained 2,092 pages in large format [20] – the highest page count of any and an increase from the 35th edition, which had 1,471 pages. The American medical drama Grey's Anatomy (2005–present) is a play on words referring to both the textbook and the name of the series' lead character. Apart from clear illustrations what made the work so important that it has never been out of print (almost 160 years) since it was first published? Includes over 300 clinical photographs, including radiological images depicting surface anatomy and common clinical applications of anatomic knowledge.
