Description

No. The ground balance is set at the factory so you cannot adjust as you can on detectors like the AT Pro.

Garrett's ACE 400 metal detector is an intermediate-level model that is ideal for hobbyists. The Garrett ACE 400 is a VLF (Very Low Frequency) metal detector that's great for beach hunting, relic hunting, coin shooting, and treasure hunting in general. It's even #2 on our list of the best metal detectors for coins. The only downside of Garrett Ace 300 is the lower frequency range. The highest frequency you can go to is 8 kHz, which is significantly lower than some other Garrett models. This can prove to be an issue if you’re after small objects or those with low conductivity levels. We covered the next step up in the Garrett lineup, now let’s talk about the next step down – the ACE 300. Because of that, I would not recommend this machine if you live in an area with highly mineralized soil. Can this be used on the beach?

Sea Hunter Mark II Searchcoils

Despite its shortcomings, we still recommend this detector. The ACE line, as a whole, offers great flexibility. This detector is easy to use and performs well in wet environments. Understand the Target ID scale: Familiarize yourself with the Garrett ACE 400’s Target ID number range (0-99) and the general guidelines for interpreting these numbers.

The Garrett ACE 400 is a feature-rich detector. There’s a lot to discover about this model. Here are some of the most noteworthy features that might affect the way you search for metals. 1. Innovative Iron Audio SystemIn general, target ID numbers are used to help users identify the type of metal detected based on the object’s conductivity. The scale and range of these numbers may differ across different brands and models, but they serve a similar purpose: to give users an idea of the metal type they have detected, helping them decide whether to dig or pass on a particular signal. So if you thought the ACE 350 was a good machine ( and i t was), then you’ll be quite happy with the ACE 400. Features

Everyone seems to agree the Garrett ACE 400i really can do no wrong. This detector really is an improvement on all of its predecessors. In addition to having great sensitivity, users are also now able to distinguish between different types of iron. One of the major advantages is the price – for all the advanced features that you get, it really is somewhat of a bargain. The Discrimination button is used in conjunction with the Accept/Reject button to ensure that trash is rejected. Everything is labeled, and the display is simple – but you'll have to squint in direct sunlight. The key buttons are plus and minus toggles for mode, prejudice, and sensitivity. There are also audio and frequency control buttons made of iron. Because who wants to waste their day out on the hunt sifting through garbage? By adjusting the iron discrimination settings displayed on the screen, you can accurately capture valuable targets from fields loaded with junk iron. None of the other models in the ACE series have this feature, which makes the ACE 400 rank among high-end detectors despite its reduced price. The search coil and shaft are waterproof. However, the control box is not. In shallow water, metal detecting can be done, but the device should not be submerged. It’s also a good idea to keep the search coil away from the control box to prevent water from getting inside.
